Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter
This adapter is required to convert the video output of your MacBook, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air from Mini DisplayPort to VGA. The Mini DisplayPort on your laptop is Female, so these are Male on the Mini DisplayPort side. The VGA end is available in Male or Female configurations.
The VGA input on a LCD projector or monitor is usually Female, so if you’re connecting directly you’ll need the VGA Male end. These connectors are very short, so you’re most likely using a VGA extension cable, so double check which VGA gender you need. The Male VGA connector has the 15 pins exposed, and the Female VGA connector is solid with 15 holes. These are lower cost adapters than the Apple branded adapters, so buy a Male and Female VGA end. That way you’ll be sure you always have the correct gender.
